You have no idea how excited I was to get this book.  I love Rice Crispy treats the normal way so I was totally up for adding things to change them up and shock my taste buds.  I am pretty sure some sort of "squee" noise came out of my mouth when it finally arrived.

This book does not disappoint!  It has 50 marshmallow treat recipes and each one looks delicious.  However, there is one that doesn't have marshmallows involved.  It is the second to last treat in the book.  I guess they just had to sneaky that little salty sweet snack in!

I also really like that this book teaches me how to make my own marshmallows.  There are a few different flavors, so if a recipe calls for a specific flavor of marshmallow you can make your own! There is no need to worry if you aren't able to locate strawberry marshmallows in the store.  I personally am not quite this adventurous is my treat making adventures yet, but maybe some day I will try my hand at making some.

Some of the treats in this book really take me back.  For example, there is a recipe for making Puppy Chow Pretzel Treats.  I loved loved loved Chex Mix Puppy Chow as a kid (oh who am I kidding I still do!).  This particular recipe will be one of the first ones I try making.  Others that I am very interested in trying have to do with strawberry marshmallows and so yummy!

The one thing I really wish that this book had is pictures for all of the different treats.  It does have a lot, and the ones that do have them all look very delicious.  I just happen to be one of those people who really likes having their recipe books filled with photos.  I like being able to compare my completed food item with the picture to see if it came out even remotely correct (I am not a very good cook at all).

This is most definitely a book that those who love making treats should get.  If they don't like buying things for themselves, buy it for them.  Maybe they will reward you with something really really yummy.

5 stars!

  1. I'm one of those people who like recipe books filled with pictures. I'm more likely to try out a recipe with a picture than one without (or think about trying since I don't actually try recipes often).

I love rice crispies, so that cover immediately drew my attention! *starts craving marshmallow treats* :D
