Claire Daly: Reluctant Soul Saver by Michele Brouder Blog Tour

Title: Claire Daly - Reluctant Soul Saver
Author: Michele Brouder
Series: Soul Saver #1
Publisher: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform
Publication Date: September 6, 2015

I totally went in blind with this one.  I had no idea what it was about, where it took place, or anything. Once again I saw a pretty cover and went for it.

Thank you pretty cover!

This book takes place in the place I most want to visit some day in my life - Ireland.  I couldn't help but imagine green landscape with rocky ruins of castles as I read.  Thanks Michele Brouder, you only made me want to visit Ireland even more than I already did.

So what is this book about you ask?

It is about Claire Daly.  She is a teenager who is getting ready to go off to college.  She has been in love with her best friend since forever, but he doesn't know it, and she works in a bookstore.

What is so special about this Claire Daly?

Well let me tell you!  This story starts off with a bang!  Claire is off with her grandmother, who is extremely religious, doing something to a local holy spot.  Claire gets a little bit of holy water on her hands and BAM a beam of light comes out of her hands and chops down an extremely old and very important tree!

Uh, what?

You read me right!  She had a burning bright beam of light come straight out of her hand!  Needless to say, Claire kind of freaked out.  Not long after the incident, she has a sit down with her grandma and mom where they tell her she is actually a member of the Illuminati.

What's an Illuminati?

Great question!  A member of the Illuminati is actually a soul that long ago decided that it would serve to protect the world from evil.  You know...demons and such.  They actually do a lot more than just that, but I will let you read the story to discover exactly what it is they do!

So, is Claire happy about this?

As you can probably guess by the title of this book....NOPE!  She is not.  She doesn't even believe in God herself really, so how can she be fighting evil in his name?  She just wants to go off to college to study to be a librarian and to continue to pine over her best friend.  Too bad.  Now that her powers have manifested there are demons and such out to get her!

Can you tell me more?

Nope!  I could, but I won't!  I want you to read this absolutely wonderful and engaging story for yourself.  You really should be going to Amazon or something right now and buying it.  Or at least adding it to your Goodreads TBR shelf.

A major theme in this book is religion, did you find that off putting?

I will be honest.  I don't normally read religion based books (I really sound like a liar to myself right now because one of my current reads at the time of writing this happens to have religion as a huge focus once again).  But it was done well and I really liked it.  I thought the whole concept and story line were great and well written.  So my answer is no, it didn't end up bothering me at all.

Will you be reading the sequel?

OH HECK YES I WILL BE!  I want that bad boy in my hands RIGHT NOW!  But, alas, I can't.  So I will sit and wait rather impatiently for it.
